Introduction: Current Hospitality Design Trends

Dexter is recognised as an industry leader in the hospitality sector and was voted one of the UK’s top 25 most influential and inspirational designers in The Brit List 2017. He is the founding director of architecture and interior design practice Dexter Moren Associates, founded in London in 1992. With over 30 years’ experience, Dexter has worked with the majority of leading brands in the UK, Europe, Russia, Africa, Middle East and Asia. Current projects include: the Westin, City of London, Intercontinental Hotel Lusaka, a mixed use landmark development in Westlands Nairobi, and a luxury resort in the Cape Verde Islands. Recent projects include the new build dual-branded SunSquare and StayEasy City Bowl hotels in Cape Town and The Curtain Hotel & Members Club in Shoreditch, London - winner of the Top Hotel Projects World Tour Creative Spark competition.

David is head of WeWork's UK and Ireland real estate team. Before joining WeWork, David was a lawyer at a pre-eminent real estate law firm in the City of London advising developers and landlords on investment, development and asset management work across a number of industries and sectors. David graduated with a law degree from the University of Birmingham and obtained a distinction in his LPC qualification from BPP, London.

Eliza Liepina lives and breathes real estate, having first ventured into the sector in 2011 working within Auckland city center’s 9 city block regeneration project, and since her career has spun continents. She has worked on various innovative, new-age real estate projects, from WeWork’s first co-working offering in Germany, to several serviced living products globally from Co-Living to Student Housing. Eliza’s human focused, research led approach to real estate shines through in every project, applying sustainable urbanism principles to buildings to create vertical villages that that are experience led to address the behavioural change in today’s consumer.

Hubert Viriot joined YOTEL in May 2014 to roll out an aggressive growth strategy targeting key city centres and international airports in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America. Prior to his appointment as the CEO of YOTEL, Hubert was CEO of Raimon Land PLC, a leading real estate developer listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET). During his four-year tenure in Thailand, Hubert orchestrated the successful turnaround of Raimon Land and increased the company’s development portfolio from USD200M to USD1.1Bn. Previously, Hubert spent four years as Vice President of Investments & Acquisitions with IFA Hotels & Resorts, YOTEL’s parent company, and five years with HVS, a global consulting firm focused on the hospitality, tourism and real estate industries. Hubert has a BS degree in International Management from the University of Wales and a BS degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from the Glion Hotel School in Switzerland.

Guy Ivesha is the CEO of Maslow’s, the hospitality-led, workspace and lifestyle concept that launched its first property, Mortimer House, in London’s Fitzrovia in late 2017. Previously, Guy was Head of Acquisitions and Development for PPHE Hotel Group, the largest owner, developer and operator of hotels in London. Guy was instrumental in the growth and success of the company, which has enabled it to achieve and exceed its expansion plans and financial objectives. In addition, Guy was responsible for establishing the group’s entire restaurant and bar operation and concept creation with great success. Prior to joining PPHE Hotel Group Guy was the Director of Hotel Development for El-Ad Properties NY from 2005-2009, a major real estate development firm based in New York, where he oversaw the re-development, re-opening and asset management of the iconic Plaza Hotel.

Bella Peacock serves as a Managing Director of Investment Management and Operations at Greystar, responsible for asset management and execution across all UK student and multifamily investments. After joining Greystar in 2014 as one of the first members of the Europe team, Bella has engaged in the development of the UK platform across portfolio and asset management, capital projects, marketing and operations. She has served the UK residential real estate sector since 2007, including previous roles in the serviced apartment, corporate housing and PRS sector at Native, where she was responsible for portfolio growth, investor relations and reporting and asset management and prior to that at The UNITE Group. Bella earned her Masters of Arts in Geography from the University of Oxford and a Masters of Science in Real Estate Investment and Finance from Henley Business School, University of Reading.

Karan Khanna is the Managing Director for InterContinental Hotels Group in the UK & Ireland and as such is accountable for the end to end performance of the business in this key priority market for IHG. Karan has been with IHG for almost 8 years and has held multiple roles during this time including VP of Design & Engineering and Head of Strategy. Prior to IHG, Karan was an Engagement Manager for McKinsey & Co, working in the Consumer & Retail sector. Before that, Karan worked for 5 years at Cadbury-Schweppes in various brand management, innovation and commercial strategy roles. Karan has an MBA with Distinction from INSEAD and a BA (Hons) in Economics from Delhi University.
